Abstract:
Ecosystems face growing threats from urbanization, pollution, and climate change, necessitating innovative approaches to sustainability. Open Innovation (OI) serves as a critical bridge between research and practice, fostering communication and multi-stakeholder collaboration for adaptive, long-term solutions. This scoping review of 565 studies identifies key contributors, thematic clusters, and challenges in implementing OI for ecological restoration. Findings demonstrate OI’s role in overcoming barriers and enhancing environmental resilience. Future research should focus on policy frameworks, digital knowledge platforms, and economic incentives to scale restoration efforts and ensure sustained impact.
